Save Our Youth Service in Derbyshire - fighting the Tory Council plan to kill Council Youth Service

Save Our Derbyshire Youth Service - A successful Rally was held on Wed April 18th 2012 to Save Our Youth Services (SOYS), at Derbyshire County Council, County Hall, Matlock where over 100 people were present to protest about the plan by those in charge at the Council to kill off the Council-run Youth Service completely. Good councillors, good trade union members, good youth workers, good young people, good residents and good Derbyshire Anti-Cuts Campaign members were there as well as TV, radio, and False Economy campaign journalists recording events. Protesters then went in to the Full Council meeting to present a 16,000 plus petition signed by the people of Derbyshire to demand that the Tory Council retain a publicly provided, publicly delivered Youth Service and do not make nearly 160 Youth Workers redundant. First speaker on the video (link below) sums it up magnificently - WE NEED TO BUILD A COALITION OF PEOPLE POWER TO FIGHT THESE CUTS.
THE ONLY THING FOR THE TRIUMPH OF EVIL IS WHEN GOOD PEOPLE DO NOTHING but the terrace outside County Hall, Matlock was full of GOOD PEOPLE that day so TORIES - YOU BETTER WATCH OUT!
MESSAGE TO THOSE IN CHARGE AT DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL - WE ARE GOING TO FIGHT YOU TO THE BITTER END OVER THIS AND IT WILL BE YOUR BITTER END THAT YOU WILL BE SEEING!
The final decision will be made by Derbyshire County Council at their meeting in May 2012.
