Student demonstration in London, Nov. 9th 2011

I covered The NCAFC National Student Demo against Privatisation, London, England, UK for a couple of news agencies.
Approximately 4,000 police officers were on duty, as student demonstrators marched peacefully in a protest against higher tuition fees, general cuts and “privatisation” in universities through central London.
The march received support from members of the general public and also from many groups of construction workers.
After the violence of 2010, at a similar student fees protest, the Metropolitan Police had warned they might use plastic bullets in “extreme circumstances” and sent letters to many activists warning them not to attend. Twenty people were arrested. The police estimate that about 2,500 people took part in the demonstration. The police were particularly keen to stop demonstrators reaching the financial district of the city and near the Bank of England, where the Occupy Camp remains. Wednesday 9th November 2011
