Barlby library YO8

Location: UK » North East » YO
Sector: Libraries

The council needs to save around £2 million from its library budget over the next four years, with the greatest savings having to be made in the first two years due to the government’s frontloading of its funding settlement.

The council is running a consultation from 1st December 2010 to 28th February 2011 over proposals to reduce the service from 42 branch libraries, ten mobile libraries and one supermobile to 18 core libraries and two supermobiles. Supplemented by a network of community libraries run by local communities with professional support from the County Council.

This library is earmarked for closure unless a local solution can be found.
