Cuts
Croydon University Hospital CR7
Sector: Health
Four wards are to be closed at Croydon University Hospital between 2011 and 2014, with 200 full-time staff posts to go across Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, possibly including nurses and consultants. The Trust, which runs the hospital, is aiming to save £34.7 million over three years. A dozen elective surgery beds have already gone, although the Trust says it has managed to reduce the length of care. The Trust says that those who lose their jobs will be offered similar posts within the organisation, with most of the staffing cuts affecting temporary staff.
