Cumbria tourist board

Location: UK » North West » LA

Cumbria Tourism received a significant proportion of its funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency. The Tory manifesto pledge to cut the RDAs is going ahead with redundancies already taking place.

In summer 2010, Cumbria Tourism employed approx 46 staff. By March 2011, this will have reduced to 18 – a 60% reduction.

Most of Cumbria Tourism’s funding was spent on promoting Cumbria’s tourism industry (PR help, IT training, subsidised print and web marketing etc).

Similar cuts are expected across many of the regional tourist boards.
