Cuts
Disability and social care, Wirral
Wirral has recently closed 5 local respite services and intermediate care homes as part of a project to outsource its care to an independent organisation. It has also introduced a new charge of £4 a week for people who use local telecare services. The council currently takes into account 75 per cent of a person’s income when working out how much they will contribute towards the cost of their care. They are considering whether this should be increased to 100 per cent of a disabled person’s income.
