Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is reducing its workforce by the equivalent of around 331 full-time staff between 2010 and 2013, which is 10.8 percent of all staff.
Clinical staff account for 209.5 of the posts that are being cut, with the remaining 121.8 posts falling in non-clinical areas.
The Trust is also planning to reduce spending on agency and bank staff by £500k in 2010/11, which equates to approximately 20 full-time posts.
The Trust provides services from three main sites in Gateshead - Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Bensham Hospital and Dunston Hill Hospital.
