Kingston Hospital KT2
Kingston Hospital NHS Trust has put forward plans to axe 486 jobs through natural turnover from 2011 to 2015.
As part of its application to become an NHS Foundation Trust, the hospital has outlined draft proposals including the removal of posts and forming an alliance with St George’s Hospital, in Tooting by 2015/16.
The plans propose 22 less consultants, 214 fewer nurses, midwives and health visitors, 55 fewer scientific therapeutic and technical staff and a reduction of 140 posts listed as non-clinical - this is just under 20 percent of all staff employed at the hospital.
It has also proposed to expand its maternity services.
The Trust runs Kingston Hospital, a district general hospital based around 12 miles from central London. The hospital supports some 320,000 people in the surrounding area including Kingston, Richmond, Roehampton, Putney and East Elmbridge.
