Laurence House adult care home BD3
Sector: Social care
Bradford Metropolitan District Council plans to shut Laurence House adult care home as part of plans to withdraw from providing mainstream long-term residential adult care.
Laurence House, located in the east of the city, currently provides long-stay and short-stay dementia care rather than the mainstream care the council is withdrawing from providing.
However, the council argues that the site is not ideal for a dementia care home as it is difficult to provide a safe enclosed outdoor area.
Nevertheless, the 29-bed home was rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission in 2010.
The site is likely to be developed for community use or as a resource base.
