Middle Street Resource Centre mental health day support NG9

Location: UK » East Midlands » NG

Nottinghamshire County Council has been consulting on the closure of all three of its mental health day support centres, including the Middle Street Resource Centre in Beeston.

The Middle Street centre provides support, during the day, for people with mental health difficulties. This support takes the form of therapeutic, leisure, education and social activities. There are also a variety of groups and activities that take advantage of mainstream community resources such as leisure centres and colleges.

The centre offers a wide range of facilities including an information centre, internet-enabled computers, sports and music equipment, craft and art workshops, gardens and areas to socialise and relax.

The council plans to close the centres in order to save money and as a result of the introduction of personal care budgets, which provide service users with money to spend on services of their choice.
