The National Offender Management Service (NOMS) is responsible for prisons and probation services across Engalnd & Wales and is part of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
Between 2011 and 2015 there will be around £2 billion pounds of cuts from the MoJ budget - and £1 billion of that is to come from NOMS.
NOMS will not be allowed to defer savings to the later years – it must be “front loaded”. NOMS has been ordered to cut 10,000 jobs.
