Newcastle city council: reducing the number of looked after children NE99
Sector:
The council’s 2012 - 2013 budget has a proposal to reduce the numbers of looked after children and the cost of placements, for a saving of £828,000.
The budget papers say:
“We propose to safely reduce the number of children coming into care and support children young people and their families through a range of measures to enable them to return home where possible. In addition, we are continuing to increase adoptions, maximise the use of fostering, and negotiate the best prices for residential placements.”
