Cuts
Oxfordshire county libraries OX
Almost half of Oxfordshire County Libraries are to be cut in proposals put forward by conservative-run Oxfordshire County council. 20 of the the 43 libraries, often in rural locations, are to be cut, saving a measly 2m over 4 years. A one-off pot of money is being made available to voluntary community groups who may wish to come forward with proposals to run their local library. The detail of how infrastructure, the buildings, the stock, the systems ,will be dealt with under any volunteer scheme, has not been made clear. Any grant to volunteer groups would be one-off.
