Peterborough children’s play centres PE1

Location: UK » East of England » PE

Peterborough City Council is planning to cut nearly half its budget for children’s play centres.

The council currently runs eight play centres for children aged 5-13. However, the council wants to cut £300k from their £669k total budget. Options include closing some play centres, introducing charges for some sessions, or handing over some of the centres to voluntary organisations. Alternatively, some play activities may be moved into the council’s children’s centres.

The council’s plans are currently out to public consultation along with the remainder of its proposed budget, with responses due by early February 2011.
