St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust has announced plans to remove 500 staff posts, including nurses and consultants, plus the closure of at least three wards and 100 beds.
The Trust’s main site is St George’s Hospital in Tooting, one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals. The Trust also runs the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre in Wimbledon, which cares for patients with neurological conditions such as stroke and spinal injuries, and provides community hospital based care from Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, 11 health centres and clinics, schools and nurseries, patients’ homes and Wandsworth Prison.
