Swindon Dial A Ride SN2
Swindon Dial A Ride is a community transport minibus service. It operates a fleet of minibuses modified for people with disabilities. It has a staff of about 20 including volunteers.
It has several thousand passengers registered to use its transport. Its clients use the service for commuting to work, shopping, doctors appointments, hospital visits and to attend lunch clubs and other social activities in and around the Swindon area.
The council has decided to remove the grant that has been provided for the past 20 years.
The charity will now have to apply via a tender as a commercial operator in order to continue. There is no guarantee that Dial a Ride will win this tender and it is unlikely that if a commercial operator wins the bid that the level and quality of service could be maintained.
