Whiston/St Helens Hospitals L35
A discussion regarding the future of St Helens & Knowsley NHS trust was supposed to have taken place at 9am this morning (Nobody bothered to tell anybody where I live). The trust is in debt due to having to fork out £20million + per year to pay back the PFI money for the rebuild of Whiston Hospital, which was finished in 2010. St Helens hospital was rebuilt too in 2008. As this wonderful government states that all NHS trusts have to have foundation status by 2014, then we have a bit of a money problem. A merger with Warrington trust has been suggested, as well as the slimy hands of the private sector in part ownership. No idea what actually happened at the meeting as nobody even knew it was taking place today, despite it being a ‘public’ meeting.
