My work in mental health is seen as a ‘soft target’ for cuts

I work as an Arts Project Officer for a Mental Health Trust. Although this job may seem like a soft target for cuts it really makes a difference to some of the people I work with.

Through the arts I am able to engage with people who are seen as “challenging” and “revolving door” clients. This service is not surprisingly due to be outsourced next year.

It is so short sighted though as many people who have used the service have said to me that it has made a real difference to their quality of life and some have even said it has prevented them from having a relapse in their mental health
