Save services in rural areas too - Bampton, Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire County Council, renowned for its dogmatic approach to local issues, is carrying out a policy of savage cuts across the County. In our small village (1500 people ca) the library will be closing down, as well as the youth centre. Rural buses have already been affected by cuts with a cheaper operator providing reduced services that are also more expensive to users.
We all know that once these services go they are seldom replaced and if they eventually are they cost much, much more than before. Furthermore, no proper assessment of environmental costs created by the cuts is ever carried out.
By cutting services to small communities the government is ripping out their hearts, perpetuating the downward spiral of economic decline and increasing the disparity between the very wealthy and the poor. Many of these cuts will also add tons of CO2, forcing people to drive further away for essential services.
A small group of people got together and raised over 200 signatures, but to no avail. What else can we do?
